All values shown in calculator defaults are illustrative and editable. They are not recommendations for any trade or city. The business profile labels a loaded labor cost as User-entered unless a reviewed preset has been applied.
Planned US source
Location wage presets are intended to be built from reviewed primary datasets such as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS). The repository now contains an OEWS-shaped CSV adapter with source-year, geography, occupation-map and review metadata.
Occupation mappings
The adapter maps five trade families to OEWS occupations: electrical to 47-2111, plumbing to 47-2152, HVAC to 49-9021, painting to 47-2141, and landscaping to 37-3011. These are starting assumptions, not official trade rates, and must be re-checked against the exact OEWS release used for an import.
Review gate
No production wage values are loaded. The adapter rejects sample, retirement and user-entered sources, requires a named reviewer and a recent review date, and marks a preset stale rather than verified when its review lapses. Source approval is currently pending and the production registry ships empty. The full checklist is in docs/US_PRESET_SOURCE_REVIEW.md.
Separation rule
Sample data lives in src/data/sample. Reviewed production data may live in src/data/verified only after a documented source and license review. The repository check fails if that directory contains anything except its README before approval.
